Couch to 5k 2018 Begins

C2 5k
Some of the New Couch to 5k group with their mentors at the start of week 2 of training.

We were delighted with huge interest in the 2018 couch to 5k programme, a total of 45 new members registered and started their journey to running five kilometers nonstop. New members are always welcome at BTR and are essential in keeping our club as strong as inclusive as we always have been Over the next few weeks the mentors will run alongside them sharing their experience and encouraging and cajoling them along the way. We wish each and everyone of them success in achieving their goals and hope they enjoy their experience with our club. We look forward to having them with us for many years to come.

BTR Launch Strength and Conditioning Class in Association With Achieve Fitness

S&C

Well in the modern world of distance running strength training is pretty much a given so in an attempt to keep up with modern best practice BTR has partnered with Achieve Fittness to bring you a 8 week programme of Strength and conditioning classes every Monday night in their Gum on Monavally Industrial est. With the club subsidising  the classes the 8 week programme is only costing our members €15. There was great interest in the initiative and the classes filled up within 25 minutes. We had our first taste on Mondat 15th of May and I for one really enjoyed it (even if I struggled to move for 2 days after). Big thanks to Mairead and Deirdre for the welcome and the great work out. Were looking forward to the coming weeks now.

New BTR Training with The Early Birds

Early bird

Not everyone finds training in the evening suitable so BTR has responded and now there’s training at 6:30am as well as 6:30pm. Like the standard BTR training the Early Birds leave from the Aqua Dome, but train on Monday, Wednesday and Friday. Unfortunately though the couch to 5k  programme can not be facilitated at this time. However for the rest of our members if you want an early morning run why not join the guys one morning.
